Exploring Temporal Trends of Plant Invasion in Mediterranean Coastal Dunes

چکیده

Alien plants represent a significant threat to species diversity and composition in natural habitats. Nevertheless, little is known about the dynamic of invasion process how its effects on native change over time. In this study, we explored vegetation changes that occurred invaded coastal dune habitats last 10–15 years (2005–2020), particularly addressing impacts alien diagnostic species. To monitor temporal trends, used data resulting from revisitation study. After detecting overall occurrence cover time, 127 total plots were grouped into experiencing colonization, loss, or persistence For these three categories, compared historical resurveyed quantify (using Jaccard dissimilarity index) measure variations cover. The number doubled time (from 6 12) two species, Yucca gloriosa Agave americana, strongly increased their (+5.3% +11.4%, respectively). Furthermore, newly appeared record greatest both Our results suggest need for regular monitoring actions better understand processes implement effective management strategies

Measuring Diversity in Plant Communities with Mosaic Spatial Patterns: Danish Coastal Dunes

Hierarchical pin-point data from 5316 plots from 73 Danish coastal dune sites were analysed in order to describe the species diversity in dune plant communities on a regional scale. Due to the mosaic spatial pattern of the dune communities, it was decided to describe the spatial structure of each plant species in each community using a vegetation type conditioned approach, where the hierarchica...

Constraints on coastal dune invasion for a notorious plant invader

Although most biological invasions are not successful, relatively few studies have examined otherwise notorious invaders in systems where they are not highly problematic. The annual grass Bromus tectorum is a dominant invader in western North America, but is usually confined to human-dominated and disturbed systems (e.g. roadsides and parking lots) in the East where it remains virtually unstudi...

Genetic diversity of rhizobia associated with Acacia longifolia in two stages of invasion of coastal sand dunes.

We examined the genetic diversity of root nodule bacteria associated with the Australian legume Acacia longifolia in two stages of invasion of a coastal sand dune system. All isolates belonged to the genus Bradyrhizobium. A higher diversity was found in the long-established trees. The results suggest the introduction of exotic bradyrhizobia with the plant.
